Dr Edward Hadjihannas is a graduate of Leicester University Medical School (UK). After completing his Basic Surgical Rotation training in various hospitals in London and South England, he was granted a training number on the UK National Training Scheme in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery. He worked as a Specialist Registrar in major ENT units in Birmingham and the West Midlands and gained clinical and surgical experience in all aspects of his specialty. Moreover, he developed a special interest in Otology and Paediatric ENT.

At the same time, he undertook and completed a postgraduate degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Keele and obtained the title of Masters in Medical Sciences (MMedSci) with Merit after submitting a dissertation. He also passed the examination of the European Board to become a Fellow of the European Board of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery (FEBORL-HNS).
Furthermore, he published various articles in British and international peer-reviewed medical journals and presented in national and international conferences. After a period of 18 years in the UK he repatriated to Cyprus and works as a partner at Aretaeio Hospital, in Nicosia.

Further to his clinical work, he has an interest in teaching. He is an Assistant Professor in ENT at the St George’s Medical School of the University of London at the University of Nicosia. He is involved with all forms of teaching including lecturing, clinical skills, anatomy and clinical teaching with patients in clinic and in the operating theatre. He is also involved with the examination process of medical students.

More recently in 2017, he has become a member of the team of examiners for the European Fellowship exams in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery (FEBORL-HNS) which comes together and examines for the oral part of the exam every year in Vienna.

Dr Hadjihannas is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, a member of the British Association of Otorhinolaryngologists – Head & Neck Surgeons, a member of the British Association of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngologists and a Fellow of the European Board of Otorhinolaryngologists/Head & Neck Surgeons.
